ProKids Freestyle Bonaire N.A. 2009 Notice of Race
Date
The dates of the event are July 18th and 19th. Pre-registration is REQUIRED to be accepted into the event. All competitors MUST be pre-registered by Wednesday, July 15th at 5pm. No entries accepted after that time.
Eligibility
• The ProKids Freestyle is open to all kids and junior competitors under the age of 18.
• The amateur Event is open to all amateur men and women 18 and older.
• Event winners will be recognized by their age group division.
Division for boys/girls and men/women are as follows:
• 0-7 years – All children in this division must have a parent/adult in attendance at all times to help on and off the water.
• 8-9 years
• 10-11 years
• 12-13 years
• 14-15 years
• 16-17 years
• 18+
Competition Format
• Competitors are judged in heats consisting of 2-4 competitors.
• Each heat will advance either 1, 2 or 3 competitors depending on total number of entrants and time availability as well as wind conditions.
• Competitors are judged by a panel of three judges, their highest scores derived from an overall impression. Judges will be looking for difficulty of tricks, diversity, style and total routine and flow.
• Highest scores will be awarded for completed tricks.
• For the larger divisions, a double elimination format is planned but may be modified depending on weather conditions and time availability,
Rules & Regulations
Signals for Start/Finish of Heats
• A red “warning” flag will be raised with a horn 2 minutes prior to the heat.
• The red “warning” flag will be lowered 30 seconds prior to the heat.
• A Yellow Flag will be raised with a horn at start of heat.
• Yellow Flag will be lowered 30 seconds before the end of the heat.
• Red Flag is raised with a horn at the end of heat. 2 minute “warning” for next heat.
• The heat duration will be posted on the notice board and at the captains meeting
Postponement Flag (Red & White – “AP” flag)
• When raised with a horn signal – next heat is on “standby”.
L flag (Yellow and Black squares)
• Information posted on the notice board
Athlete Identification
• Competitors will fly streamers on their masts for identification.
• Streamers will be in four different colors.
• Competitors will be required to turn in their streamers after each heat at the notice board.
Competition Area
• Competition Area will be outlined by buoys.
• Only those competitors in the heat are allowed in the competition area. Repeated infraction of this rule may result in disqualification from the event.
• Tricks must be executed and completed inside the competition area to be counted.
Schedule
• Opening Party July 17th 18:00 - 20:00
• Mandatory Captains meeting July 18th 09:00 - Start 10:00
• Start July 19th 10:00 - Awards at 18:00
• All further schedules will be posted on the notice board
Fees
• All participant registration fee $30,00.
